Blueberry Mint Julep Slushy


1 cup blueberries

8 ounces soda water

6.5 ounces bourbon (more if you would like it stronger)

4 ounces simple syrup (make your own super easy recipe below)

Handful of mint leaves, no stems unless its to garnish

2 1/4 cups of Ice

4 medium size cups


Place 10 blueberries, 10 mint leaves, and 1/2 an ounce of simple syrup in the bottom of each glass. Begin to muddle the blueberries, mint and the simple syrup until the blueberries are crushed and the mint leaves are starting to break down. The mint leaves will turn dark green as the oils start to release from them. Set the cups aside.

In a blender add the 2 1/2 cups of ice and soda water and blend on Slushy mode for 2/3 minutes then add in the bourbon and blend for 1 more minute.

Pour the mixture into each glass and top with a mint leave garnish.

Ingredients for Simple Syrup

1 cup sugar of choice

1 cup water

1 large bunch of mint leaves


In a medium size pot combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil, start stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Place a bunch of the mint leaves on the bottom of a mason jar, pour the simple syrup on top of the leaves. Put the jar into the refrigerator with no top on for about 40 minutes. Strain the mix and put it back into the mason jar until ready to use.

After the simple syrup is cool put the lid on it and store it in the fridge for up to 3/4 weeks.
